The ConsignDesign Experience

Hello, my name is Steve Hobbs and I own ConsignDesign.

ConsignDesign was born from what I saw as a need not being met in our community. While assisting my wife Julie (an interior designer for over 20 years), I recognized a need for an upscale shop where her clients could get a fair price for the items they no longer needed. ConsignDesign started in a 1500 sq./ft space (open 3 days per week) out west of Little Rock on Highway 10. This space allowed me to do a proof of concept to make sure my dream was a viable business model.

Within about 3 months, the space was full and I had 3 large storage units full of items waiting to get in the store. I quickly realized the concept of an upscale furniture store truly was needed in this area.

In March 2015, I found our current space. I had some concerns regarding the location (I wasn’t sure people could find us off Maumelle Blvd) and I was sure I would never need 7,000 sq/ft. Fast forward to today and we have expanded to 11,000 sq/ft and we have been able to keep it full of amazing items.

Additionally, I have been blessed to have an incredible team who cares as much about the business as I do. Together we have built a unique store where our customers can find so many one-of-a-kind items (from original works by local artists to high-end furniture pieces). To date, we have 2,500+ consignors and over 24,000 items in the store.
